It's 5 o'clock Somewhere!

I am using this quote to title my first blog post for multiple reasons.  First, it is Friday and everyone looks forward to happy hour on a Friday, but mostly because it sets the tone for what I want this blog to be about.  There is a party going on some where, every where, all the time.  You just have to look for the opportunity and then make the most of it.

But first, a little about me.  For over 7 years I had the fortune of planning events for two well know colleges in the south, The Savannah College of Art and Design, and Auburn Univeristy.  The knowledge and experiences I gleaned at those two institutions, I will never forget.  But having been in my current position for the past two years, I have found my sense of "event planning" receding and I DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!  I loved planning events.  I loved the identity it gave me and the satisfaction of hearing from attendees how wonderful a time they had.

After having been in the "business" for a number of years, I started to approach activities I did in my personal life as "events", whether it was a small dinner party of four, a friend's baby shower, or Easter for 16, I strategized as if it was work.  This not only helped me keep my sanity, but also helped in organizng all the details so that big or small, the activity was flawless and guests enjoyed themselves to fullest degree.

So, in my quest to keep my brain shape I am dedicating this blog to all things event.  I have a close friend tell me over and over that I should go in to business for myself.  While I would LOVE that, I also know that what I can do, anyone can do.  As I used to say, "It's not brain surgery."  Through this blog I hope to share my experiences in planning fun events for friends and family, and maybe even give you ideas for your get together!

For  now, as a close to my first post I leave you with some pictures of a fall dinner party I did a year ago for some dear friends in the neighborhood.  We were kicking off our Supper Club, and it was Halloween themed.

Please enjoy....Hubby and I are off to Birmingham for...that's right an event!  My cousin is getting married, so be on the look out for a post next week highlighting all the wonderful details from that.
